COOPERSTOWN, N.Y.  – The Glimmerglass Festival will hold auditions for adult choristers for the 2015 summer festival on February 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and February 22 from noon to 3 p.m. at The Glimmerglass Festival’s rehearsal hall at 4152 US Highway 20, Warren, New York.

The company is casting four female and four male adult chorus members, as well as one non-singing, non-speaking role in Verdi’s Macbeth, which is directed by Anne Bogart and conducted by Joseph Colaneri. Two sopranos, two mezzo-sopranos, three tenors and one baritone will be cast.

Singers should prepare two songs, one in a foreign language, to be performed with piano accompaniment. Arias or art songs are preferred. Please bring a copy of sheet music for the provided accompanist, as well as a headshot and resume.

Rehearsals for Verdi’s Macbeth begin Monday, June 1, 2015, and performances will take place July 11, 17, 21, 26, 31, August 8, 13, 15, 17 and 22 in The Glimmerglass Festival’s Alice Busch Opera Theater in Cooperstown, New York. Music and staging rehearsal dates will be available at the auditions.

The Glimmerglass Festival presents four new productions of opera and musical theater every summer in Cooperstown, New York. The 2015 Festival runs July 10 through August 23 and celebrates the company’s 40th anniversary with new productions of Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Verdi’s Macbeth, Vivaldi’s Cato in Utica and Bernstein’s Candide.
